Our group worked extremely well together. We have all worked together, as in all four of us, multiple times this year without fighting or any issues whatsoever, and we all work hard and with diligence. We researched all of the needed material and about human waste, kidney failure statistics, and how the dialysis machine works and how it utilizes diffusion. Along with the things we did well, we were rather creative. We came up with the idea of using claymation in our video to help us demonstrate the processes of dialysis, and this is seen in the parts explaining diffusion of molecules and the general construction of the dialysis machine.

As for things we did not do well, we didn't use our time to its best advantage. On prep days during sixth period, we would frequently zone out and not get a lot of work done, and that left us panicking on Sunday the weekend before it was due. We also left a lot of the work regarding video editing and the likes to the only person with the software available to do so - Cate. I also wish we could have made more of the video in claymation, but we didn't have enough time (regardless of the time wasted at school).

Dialysis in itself is very interesting to me, and I think it's very clever that people thought to use diffusion to help treat kidney failure. I learned a lot about the processes involved with a dialysis machine and with the human body in general.
Another thing I found very interesting but doesn't necessarily relate to dialysis, claymation is hard! I've always watched those kinds of videos with the attitude of, "I should do that at some point, it looks pretty easy," but it absolutely is not. You need to get the lighting perfect and consistent throughout the whole film, you have to keep the camera angle exactly the same, you have to keep track of which parts need to be moved and need to keep still, and you have to keep track of which parts you have moved already and those you haven't, among other things. It was a lot more difficult and time consuming than I had expected and we didn't even make the entire video out of claymation. |
